Audio plays an important role in CIVR. It guides the user and helps building an atmosphere. I needed audio to fill the following areas:
• Voice acting for the Alchemist
• Atmospheric background music
• Sound Effects for explosions, action feedback and more
For organisation, all audio was kept under one empty game object. Each audio object was its own entity and would be controlled by the engine or my code when it should play.
For the Alchemist, I hired a professional voice actor to handle his lines so that they would feel clear and of a high standard. I wrote each of the lines with the help of my girlfriend, these were acted out and improved upon by the actor I hired. This had a big impact on the overall quality of the audio.
